Hedgehog #1 – Free Embroidery Transfer Pattern
September was a busy month for me because of a move, so I took a short break from releasing new embroidery transfer patterns.
Even so, I was surprised to see that the most downloaded patterns last month were all from the Embroidery Transfer Pattern series. My blog originally began as a place to share cross-stitch designs, so seeing these embroidery motifs grow in popularity continues to be both unexpected and encouraging.
Thank you to everyone who has downloaded and stitched the patterns so far.
A Small Visitor Among the Flowers
For this new design, I've stepped away from birds once again and chosen a small woodland companion: Hedgehog #1.
Surrounded by leaves and simple flowers, this little hedgehog is intended to feel calm and comforting, as if quietly exploring a garden corner on an autumn afternoon.
The outline is designed to be flexible and easy to personalize. Whether you enjoy delicate stitches, textured details, or simple line work, I hope you'll find plenty of room to make the design your own.
As always, the pattern includes the outline drawing and suggested DMC colors. There are no step-by-step stitch instructions, giving you complete freedom to choose your favorite techniques and stitch combinations.
(This pattern does not include step-by-step stitch instructions. You will receive the outline pattern and suggested DMC thread colors only.)
A Design for Playing with Color
One of my favorite things about this pattern is how easily the colors can be changed.
The sample uses soft greens and gentle floral tones, but you might enjoy creating something entirely different. Try changing the flowers to match your favorite season, or experiment with warm autumn shades of gold, rust, and deep orange for the leaves.
A hedgehog feels at home in many color palettes, making this pattern a wonderful opportunity to explore your own creative ideas.
Sometimes the smallest changes can transform a design into something uniquely yours.

If You Share Your Finished Work...
If you post your finished hedgehog on social media, I would be delighted if you tagged or mentioned me. Seeing the colors, stitches, and personal touches that each maker brings to these patterns is one of the most rewarding parts of creating them.
