Blue Jay #1 – Free Embroidery Transfer Pattern

The next design in my free Embroidery Transfer Pattern series is now available: Blue Jay #1. Just like the earlier motifs, this pattern comes as a clean outline in multiple sizes, ready for tracing onto your favorite fabric.

A Calm, Winter‑Bright Visitor

Blue jays have a quiet elegance—soft grays, gentle blues, and a touch of contrast that feels both cool and comforting.
For this design, I wanted to capture that peaceful balance while keeping the outline simple enough for any stitching style.

This pattern includes the line drawing and a list of suggested DMC colors.
There are no step‑by‑step stitch instructions, so you’re free to choose the stitches you enjoy most.
Whether you prefer backstitch, stem stitch, satin stitch, or a mix of textures, the blue jay adapts beautifully.

(From the pattern: “This pattern does not include step-by-step stitch instructions. You will receive the outline pattern and suggested DMC thread colors only.”)

Flexible and Easy to Personalize

As with the other designs in this series, the goal is to offer a gentle starting point—something you can make your own. You can follow the suggested palette or explore your own interpretation. The included sizes make it suitable for small accessories, framed pieces, or larger decorative projects.

Suggested DMC colors include soft neutrals and cool blues such as DMC 3866, 3782, Ecru, 3024, 3033, 3022, 927, 924, 3346, 762, and 310 Black. These tones create a calm, natural look, but feel free to adjust them to match your personal style.

A Quiet Moment of Stitching

If you enjoyed stitching the Robin, Swallow, or Kingfisher, I hope this Blue Jay brings a gentle winter brightness to your embroidery time. The free transfer pattern is now available on my blog.
